A Semester in a Silicon Valley Life Science Start-up hos Innovation Center Denmark Silicon Valley

Do you have an entrepreneurial spirit? Are you eager to do research in a start-up company in Silicon Valley? Do you want to learn about innovation in one if the World’s most dynamic eco-systems?

The 2IP program is looking for master students within life science and engineering to work in a Silicon Valley startup. The program is fully sponsored by the Novo Nordisk Foundation and made in collaboration with the Innovation Centre Denmark. The program give master students the unique opportunity to spend 5 month in a Life Science start-up as part of their studies.

Visa, travel and insurance cost will be covered as well as a monthly stipend.

We're partnering with startups, that are looking for Danish students to come, and will match the students with the suitable company. For the spring 2020 we have these companies: Pivotal bioVenture Partners, Elegen, Wild Type, BioHat Biosciences, and Soteria Biotherapeutics.

Elegen is developing a high-throughput microfluidic oligosynthesizer, oligo assembler, and cell-free molecular cloning system. The oligosynthesizer is a benchtop instrument using microfluidics, fluidics, optics, machine vision, and organic chemistry to build 10,000 short DNA molecules (oligos) at once. The company’s mission is to deploy this technology in a new generation of DNA synthesizers aimed at enabling and accelerating biomedical advances. Lab synthesized DNA is an essential ingredient used daily in nearly all biomedical research and synthetic biology. Compared to current synthesizers, Elegen’s technology allows a vast increase in the number of distinct DNA sequences synthesized per unit time.

About 2IP

The International Innovation Project (2IP) program, sponsored by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, will enroll 5 life science Master students in a 5-month company project in Silicon Valley. The 2iP program is co-developed with the Innovation Centre Denmark, Silicon Valley. Application deadline September 6th, 2020.
