About This Role:

In 2020 alone, over 1 billion activities will be uploaded to Strava by over 15 million people. We know that two of the most meaningful things we do for our athletes are to help them build connections with other athletes and increase their motivation to be active. Our data holds the keys to understanding how we can continually be improving on these two fronts and building a more valuable business as a result.
We are looking for an experienced analyst interested in a full time role to help define the strategic future of Strava’s Competition and Community team. The team works on a wide range of surfaces including the challenges and clubs, all the way to segments and local legends. You will partner with a team of product managers, engineers, product marketers, designers and researchers to accelerate learning, make data-informed decisions, and drive data-inspired solutions to meet the athlete needs. This role reports to an Analytics Manager and tightly partners with cross functional partners throughout the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent the voice of the athlete through the lens of data, surfacing and prioritizing opportunities to increase the value of subscriptions through competition and community related features.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers and cross-functional partners to translate data insights into decisions and action.
  • Advise business partners on A/B test design and interpretation, up-leveling experimentation practices within the vertical team.
  • Identify product surface areas, existing and new, that need event tracking and work with engineers to get those events into place.
  • Build the source of truth for various internal consumers (including the whole company and the company’s leadership team), as the owner of critical analytical reporting and exploratory dashboards for the Competition and Community team.

About You:

  • You have 2+ years of experience in data analysis, data science, or other quantitative domains, and possibly experience in consumer-facing businesses.
  • You have high agency over your work, committed to driving outcomes and venturing into highly exploratory domains with confidence and humility.
  • You are a strong communicator with an orientation towards impact, and you are comfortable working both cross-functionally and independently.
  • You have an understanding of data pipeline concepts (e.g. ETL, scripting common analysis workflows).
  • You are proficient with SQL and visualization tools (e.g. Tableau).
  • You have hands-on experience with experimentation, including design, implementation, and methodologies (e.g. hypothesis testing and regression analysis) for analyzing and interpreting results to stakeholders.
  • You have hands-on experience working with statistical programming languages (e.g. R/Python or their equivalents).
