Purpose of the Position:
Under general supervision, this position interfaces between MBUSI, R&D and suppliers to support the series carlines and ramp up production of upcoming carlines, while ensuring supplier readiness and parts quality regarding the project milestones, change management, packaging, and problem analysis.
Position timeframe: June 1st, 2021 - March 31st, 2023
Represent the Development and Quality Engineering interests for all aspects of product as described in areas of responsibility.
Consults with all internal departments and component suppliers regarding development related topics.
Support the change management (support suppliers, release preparation and maintain/check the related documentation).
Simultaneous communication with the relevant development departments in Sindelfingen & other foreign plants as required.
Support the Quality Operations departments and “Service & Parts” by investigating malfunction and solving problems, also at the Dealership / Customer.
Examines, measures, inspects, or tests defective part for conformance to engineering design drawings or blueprint specifications, using precision measuring and testing instruments, devices, and equipment.
Analyze specific developmental issues and establish long- & short-term countermeasures including cross-functional alignment. Lead cross functional problem solving activities.
Assist production in implementing adopted countermeasures (long- & short-term) to ensure production capability during Production Trial (PT) phase.
Initiate product planning changes and approve product deviation requests to support product quality.
Perform safe work practices and participate in trainings and safety programs in a positive and proactive way by following safety rules, procedures, regulations, standards and laws. Report all unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and injuries to supervisor or Human Resources.
Work safely 100% of the time.
Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience and Necessary Skills all must be met in order to qualify for position.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or in a related area, and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of three (3) years' of relevant professional experience in the following area(s):
Development/design and/or quality engineering for HV Battery, High Voltage components, Electrics/Electronics or Electric Vehicles.
Necessary Skills, Certifications, etc.:
Must be a current Daimler employee
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Project)
Ability to use data processing tools (PC based)
Electronic Diagnostic Tools : (VECTOR-Tools, Monaco, Flash Tools, Logger Tools )
BUS systems (CAN, LIN, FLEXRAY) knowledge
Experience in electronics (hardware and software, functional testing and analysis)
Knowledge of Daimler documentation & issue tracking systems (SMARAGD, DIALOG, NCM, ZEUS, SAP, etc.)
Knowledge of electrical car technology and functions preferred on MB cars
Excellent command of English language both written and verbal
Good German language skills both written and verbal
Production experience / new product launch methods / supplier management
Problem solving abilities
