Master Thesis, 30 HP: Strength analysis of a deployable hangar
Saab Support & Services is the provider of a Deployable maintenance facility for aircrafts and vehicles.
The Deployable maintenance facility is a sophisticated solution enabling enhanced mobility and capacity of the operators, combined with unique and world leading protection. The solution consists of a hangar combined with a container system providing a variety of capabilities.
The international market outlook and potential within this product field is very promising and this thesis assignment provides an excellent opportunity to be part of the exciting journey in further product development to achieve continued success.
Description of the master thesis
The aim for the thesis is to identify and analyze design parameters with regards to mechanical strength properties, in order to:
Identify potential design adjustments/improvements for extended usability in demanding conditions
Identify possibilities related to design and development of potential product variants
The outcomes of the master thesis should be:
Validated calculation models for mechanical strength calculations
Proposed ideas related to further increasing of structural strength of the product
Proposed ideas related to potential design and development of product variants, including:
Trade-off curves showing the influence on structural strength of different parameters
Advantages, possibilities and limitations of the concepts
The master thesis is suitable for one or two students with interest in mechanical design, strength analysis, building engineering.
You are at the end of your Master program and about to start your Master Thesis work for 30 HP.
Examples of relevant Master’s programs: civil and architectural engineering, machine design, product design, engineering mechanics.
Knowledge within structural design, Finite Element Methods and Eurocode standards are recommended.
Proficiency in Italian language is considered an advantage, but not a requirement.
What you will be part of
Your workplace will be located in Östersund, Sweden at business unit Aviation Services. You will be located in the department Ground Support Equipment.
Department Ground Support Equipment has offices in Östersund, Arboga and Linköping. The core business for the department is development and delivery of maintenance systems for aircraft and helicopters, including facilities and hangars.
