We are looking for a junior IT colleague to participate in our joint effort of developing new applications for electronic trading of rates products.
If working as an IT developer in an area where standard applications do not exist, where the learning curve is steep and where demanding application users will give you feedback on your ideas immediately, this position might be for you.
The position we offer
Nordea Markets has decided to extend its e-offering to include rates products as we are convinced this area will change and grow dramatically in the years to come. Being an integral part of this offering, our team is in charge of most of Nordea’s software for electronic trading of rates products.
We are currently focusing on our framework for algorithmic trading and we need you to work with us on both the front-end and the back-end. Thus, you must be interested in designing and developing the optimal user interface as well as the most optimised server process. In electronic trading, execution speed (latency) is always a concern.
Because we are an integral part of the business, our team is located on the trading floor very close to the users of the software we create. We are releasing new functionality with a high frequency and the market and our users will tell you immediately whether your software adds value.
The qualifications you need
First and foremost, you must be rigorous, curious and willing to learn. You must also be motivated by joining a small but growing team in a fast moving environment with a lot to do.
As a junior developer, we do not expect you to have tons of experience, but we do expect you to have a solid interest in software development as well as:
- A degree in Computer Science (preferably)
- In-depth knowledge of Java 8 including streams and lambdas
- Substantial knowledge about concurrent programming, at least theoretical.
- Interest in GUI design and development, the ideal candidate knows about Java FX
- Good understanding of various database technologies (we use Oracle DBs as well as NoSQL)
- Experience working as a software developer.
- Fluency in oral and written English
If you have experience from the financial sector it is certainly a plus, but we also like to hear from you if this will be your first job in finance.
