Posting Job Description The producer will be part of the HK production team writing and producing on our prime Asia programmes. This person will work with our Senior Producer and determines which stories will be presented in a newscast and how those stories will be covered. She/he coordinates the efforts of writers/copy editors, and other production staff who are involved in program production. The producer takes on full producing responsibilities & will interact with anchors, directors, sound technicians in the control room. He/she posses a thorough knowledge of international news as well as general and business news. The producer is strong writing skills, and will be tasked to write on a variety of shows.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Good communication, organizational, leadership and motivational skills.
  • Know & understand all of the daily stories and what treatments the stories deserve in a particular program and determine that order for their show.
  • Reads wires and monitors other media and works with the assignment desk, a guest booking team, and show team to determine just how they will be covering and presenting the days stories in their programme.
  • Request specific elements from assignment desk and bookings for their particular program.
  • Work closely with their writers to map out each of the assignments and how they fit into the rundown and will closely mentor the junior members of the team.
  • Strong writer, and will be required to pick up a daily writing load.
  • In charge of working closely with the copy editors and take charge of assigning the scripts to the writers allocated to the show team.
  • Check all tasks assigned for the show are written, graphics ordered and completed, and that all the video material is in place and ready to air.
  • Needs to execute taking the rundown to air live in the control room, and to be flexible with any breaking news and changes to the rundown.
  • Need to adapt with any technical issues that may arise during a live broadcast and be able to troubleshoot.
  • After the show, the producer must review with the program with the senior producer, copy editors, supervisors and the show team to discuss how the show went to air and lessons learnt.
  • Helps to identify problems and come up with solutions to prevent issues re-occurring in the future.
  • The producer, along with the show team should also use this time to help plan segments for upcoming shows.


  • A Bachelor's degree, preferably in journalism or broadcasting.
  • A minimum of 5 years in broadcast journalism
  • A thorough understanding of international news.
  • Ability to write fast, accurately and creatively.
  • With immense interest and understanding of world affairs.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • With editorial knowledge and understanding of mission of network.
