Key Responsibilities

The Systems Analyst job family forms part of the Application Development track within the IT function. Systems Analysts are responsible for participating in applications development, maintenance, and enhancement IT projects. They provide specialized technical knowledge. They contribute to the achievement of business objectives by identifying opportunities for effective use of technology and developing, implementing and supporting IT solutions on time and on budget. This particular role will focus on HR Technologies including Workday, in support of the PPG migration from Oracle EBS to Workday go-live in 2019.

Business Skills

SAII are expected to have an understanding of business needs and how to address those needs with effective IT solutions.

  • Provide technical and analytical expertise within the HR Technologies area with a particular focus on Workday HR solutions, usually as a member of a project team, in the analysis, design, development and implementation of Workday HCM application

  • Maintain awareness of current and planned projects in which they are involved with in order to promote application sharing

  • Collaborate with staff members, IT colleagues, and other stakeholders to define detailed customer requirements and system interfaces, assess available technologies, and develop and present viable solution options while under the leadership and supervision of a project manager

  • Develop knowledge of specific business processes used within the HR Technologies area

Technical Skills

Individuals in this job position have technical experience and are in the process of acquiring a broader knowledge of various technical areas.

  • Develop new, or modifying existing, reports and integrations from Workday to internal and external systems using Workday technologies including calculated fields, custom reports, EIBs, Document Transformation, Workday Studio, Web Services, PICOF’s, etc.

  • Support and maintain the Workday Implementation from an Integration perspective.

  • Building integrations between different departments of an organization (HR, payroll, or other HR / Business systems)

  • Create and maintain Custom Integrations using Enterprise Interface Builder(EIB) and Workday Studio.

  • Create and maintain Cloud Connect Integrations.

  • Work with vendors for debugging issues with integrations and mapping the requirements.

  • Good understanding of the Workday Data Model.

In addition, the idea candidate is proficient in the following technical skills.

  • Translate business requirements into software, communications, and equipment requirements for application development

  • Perform feasibility studies, translate requirements into an appropriate design, formulate and define application scope and objectives, and under the guidance of a project lead, implement complete solutions

  • Prepare detailed specifications from which applications will be written

  • Implement appropriate data security solutions when necessary

  • Ensure business application systems are developed in a way that complies with architectural standards and established methodologies and practices

  • They are also expected to be able to create, modify, and test programming code themselves, provide technical consulting support on projects or system issues and prepare operations and user documentation

  • Contribute technical knowledge and may be expected to give direction to both PPG employees and contract programmers on specific projects or project phases

  • Understand the procedures and expected system performance associated with the technologies they are utilizing

  • For an application maintenance, incumbents must respond appropriately to system maintenance requests and use their analytical abilities and technical skills to isolate problems, fix immediate needs, analyze all ramifications and implement solutions

  • Technical experience at an in-depth level and are in the process of acquiring a broader knowledge of various technical areas and project management skills #JB1


Minimum Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.

  • Minimum of 3 year experience in systems analysis, design, development, and implementation

  • An understanding of basic concepts, terminology and practical application of current and emerging technologies.

  • 2 years professional experience using Workday HR technologies.

  • At least 1 year experience with Payroll Integrations (i.e. PICOF, PECI, etc)


  • Certified in Workday Integrations


  • Strong analytical abilities and technical skills to evaluate alternative approaches and to recommend the most feasible and economical solutions

  • Good understanding of architectures, analytical and design techniques, database technologies, and programming languages including Business Intelligence

  • Ability to design applications using the appropriate systems architecture, database structures, and communication and network technologies

  • Analytical abilities and technical skills to isolate problems, fix immediate needs, analyze all ramifications and implement complete solutions

  • Familiarity with project management techniques

  • Ability to effectively participate in or potentially lead teams

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in audience appropriate terms
