The PositionPostdoctoral Research Fellow- Translational Oncology
We are seeking a highly devoted, independent and enthusiastic PhD or MD/PhD scientist to join our group as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the laboratory of Melissa Junttila in the Department of Translational Oncology. The successful candidate with join a highly engaged research team that combines cutting-edge technologies with basic biology questions.
The focus of the lab is to investigate the origins and influence of tumor heterogeneity on tumor development and maintenance. We are particularly interested in exploring the underlying features that impact tumor evolution under distinct selective pressures. We specialize in using genetic and pharmacologic approaches, together with complimentary in vivo and ex vivo experimentation, to interrogate the parallels of tissue homeostasis/self-renewal and tumor biology. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to drive his/her research in a highly collaborative and innovative biotechnology environment.
Who you arePh.D and/or M.D from a reputable institution with training that demonstrates rigorous experimental execution, technical competence, and scientific rigor in the field of cancer biology or immunology. A background in biochemistry and cell biology with in vivo experience is favored. Candidates should be in solid command of molecular biology skills (cloning, CRISPR/Cas9, PCR, RNA sequencing, etc.), primary cell isolation, flow cytometry, cell culture, and biochemistry. Previous experience with ex vivo organoid culture systems and CRISPR/Cas9-mediated targeting approaches are a plus. Experience in the oncology field, preferably with signal transduction is desired. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership, innovation and a willingness to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team of scientists. Additional expectations include, publication of previous research in high-quality scientific journals, desire for scientific independence, strong inter-personal skills, as well as, excellent verbal, written and presentation abilities.
