Microsoft Research AI is seeking multiple interns to advance the state-of-the-art in artificial intelligence (AI) user experience (UX) design, prototyping, development and testing starting in the Spring of 2020. Interns will work collaboratively with researchers and practitioners involved in developing Microsoft’s recently released including , , , , , , , , and .
Applicants should have a demonstrated interest and experience working at the intersection of human-computer interaction (HCI) and AI, such as research or practical experience in HCI, design, user research, data science, machine learning, and AI methodologies. Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, education, training or hands-on experiences with HCI research methodologies (e.g., models of human interaction with computers, UX design principles, iterative design and rapid prototyping, conducting user studies in the field, lab, or on crowdsourcing platforms, qualitative and quantitative analysis), practical experience with data science, machine learning, or AI, or experience applying HCI methods to the domain of data science, machine learning, or AI. Preference will be given to candidates that can start in the Spring of 2020.

Responsibilities

Interns put inquiry and theory into practice. Alongside fellow doctoral candidates and some of the world’s best researchers, interns learn, collaborate, and network for life. Interns not only advance their own careers, but they also contribute to exciting research and development strides. During the 12-week internship, students are paired with mentors across Microsoft Research and Product Groups and are expected to collaborate in a highly interdisciplinary environment with other interns and researchers, present findings, and contribute to the vibrant life of the community.
