Principal Product Manager - Filogix Marketplace at Finastra

What will you contribute?

The Principal Product Manager – Filogix Marketplace will manage the product strategy and overall delivery and success for third party connectivity related capabilities for Finastra’s Filogix Mortgage origination products. This includes business case development, market research, development of product marketing strategies, advertising, promotion, and strategies associated with new and existing products(s).
The Filogix Marketplace is an existing and growing ecosystem of participants in the Canadian Mortgage value chain who are connected to Filogix’s market leading solutions for Mortgage Brokers, Lenders and Consumers.The goal of the Filogix Marketplace to provide an open platform for Mortgage lending in Canada enabling many organizations to be able to interact and connect with each other, build apps and tools, and share data and transactions securely and with ease via a library of published APIs and Apps accessible through Finastra’s platform. Many connections exist today already in the current ecosystem, and a large part of the role will be to manage the transition from the legacy technologies and approaches to the new world class FusionFabric platform.
The role will report to the VP of Product and Technology and will be located at Finastra’s center of excellence for technology and product development in Mississauga, ON. The role will work closely with colleagues in product management, product design, product marketing, product development and QA in Agile teams to build and progress the software products. We expect that the candidate will require periodic travel to clients, trade shows and to other Finastra’s locations around 5 to 10 times a year.
Leading candidates will have a record of passionate ownership of great software products targeted to businesses and/or individuals and will ideally have experience with the Canadian Mortgage industry, configurable platforms, and APIs in the financial services industry.

Responsibilities & Deliverables:
Your deliverables as a Principal Product Manager will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Identify and quantify product market opportunities in the Canadian Mortgage segment through market research, customer profiling, needs analysis, market sizing and competitive analysis.
  • Drive relationships with key participants in the Marketplace. Coordinate with Account Management team to ensure effective two-way communication and feedback
  • Gain a deep understanding of the customer experience, identify and fill product gaps, generate new ideas that grow market share, and drive growth.
  • Manage the entire product lifecycle from strategic planning through go-to-market.
  • Work with product marketing department to develop effective communication activities and programs including advertising, events management, product positioning and collateral development.
  • Develop product pricing strategies and plans that align to the value propositions of the relevant products, and that are supported by the market
  • Lead product focus groups and oversee product prototype user testing and feedback review for assigned product(s).
  • Provide support to the sales organization regarding sales demonstrations and any other assistance needed through the sales process.
  • Oversee the development of product documentation describing enhancements and feature behavior as appropriate.
  • Serve as the key contact for product questions and new product ideas which surface from customers, sales, or market research.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities for Product Management processes.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 10+ years progressively responsible management experience in Product Management or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years Platform or Connectivity development or management experience.
  • Proven record of product management accomplishments and initiatives with demonstrated success in product build and releasing to market
  • Strong skills and demonstrated expertise in product management of APIs and/or other connectivity, platform or similar solutions
  • Strong organizational, planning and product management skills with a history of successful creation and execution of product plans.
  • Possess strong problem solving and decision-making skills. Ability to work independently, apply judgment, maintain stable performance under stress and flexibility in an evolving work environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills of both direct reports and many varied supporting teams to enable product success
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously as required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to react quickly to complex situations; work with employees, customers and outside organizations in a professional manner


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related field.
  • Master of Business Administration preferred
  • Pragmatic Marketing certification or equivalent is preferred but not essential
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Agile development methodologies and Design Thinking approach to user experience design are preferred
