Zillow Offers is an initiative at the core of Zillow’s evolution, focused on defining the future of real estate. Our business seeks to make it simple to buy and sell homes by giving consumers certainty and control and sparing them the tremendous stress of the traditional process!
We are a collaborative, passionate team of applied scientists, machine learning engineers, software engineers & product managers building the Machine Learning Software that serve as the backbone of the Zillow Offers product.

About the role

In this Machine Learning Engineer role, you will partner closely with applied scientists to realize new research breakthroughs in a robust, scalable way. You will build and deploy machine learning-based software including data engineering pipelines, machine learning workflows, and inference microservices.
We are seeking a passionate self-starter who is equally versed in software engineering best practices and the latest technologies and frameworks for deploying machine learning models.
Ideally, you are interested in growing your machine learning engineering leadership, and enjoy being in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. This role will collaborate with a team that includes applied scientists, data scientists, and a product manager. You will start remotely due to COVID-19.

Who you are

  • Real-world experience building and deploying machine learning and/or data systems (for example, data engineering pipeline for data ingestion and feature extraction; machine learning workflow for automatically training and evaluating models; a web service for dynamic online inference)
  • We largely use Python, but fluency in Scala, Java, and/or C++ is also acceptable
  • Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience supporting and collaborating with scientists
  • Experience working with product managers, real estate partners and/or platform teams (infrastructure, data engineering, etc.)
  • Experience working at a large technology company with various stakeholders and decision makers
  • Experience building data pipelines with distributed processing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark)
  • Experience championing best practices in ML Ops
  • Familiarity with Python scientific stack (e.g., numpy, pandas)
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) to ship intelligent systems
  • Passion for machine learning engineering and Zillow Offers
  • Self-starter who takes initiative, receives feedback well and has a positive attitude
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location.
