Your team
MAX IV scientific software team is developing and supporting scientific software projects for data analysis atthe new generation light-sources. It is challenginghigh data rates and large data volumesusing modern software frameworks and computing infrastructure, integrating them into effective, high performance and sustainable services. Team members have to work closely together with MAX IV scientists, engineers, users, HPC experts and with MAX IV partners from the Nordic academia, industry and other large-scale facilities.

Work duties and areas of responsibility
The main activities of the scientific software team at MAX IV are covering 1) acquisition and basic processing of data from X-ray detectors and other sensors, 2) development of visualization and data analysis software and methods for Photon and Neutron (PaN) sciences, and finally 3) supporting and developing scientific software infrastructure for analysis of data from synchrotron experiments.
To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications
  • Student of Bachelor or Master degree program in e-Sciences, Mathematics, Physics or Natural Sciences
  • Good knowledge of fundamentals of mathematics and scientific programming
  • Good practice in sustainable software development

Below are seen as merits
  • Knowledge and experience in relevant scientific techniques: X-ray scattering, imaging or spectroscopy, X-ray detectors
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Practical experience in data acquisition (DAQ), optimally an involvement in existing DAQ or scientificproject
  • Scientific software project related to PaN sciences or experiment at MAX IV

Other
Participate in team meetings and activities once a week on a mostly regular basis.
As a person you are creative, flexible, performance oriented and has a problem solving analytical ability and the ability to cooperate.
