Part-time student for lean-based production optimization at NKT Photonics

Get hands-on experience with lean-based production optimization in our Birkerød laser production. Our customers are placing more orders than we can fulfill, and we are ramping our capacity across all lines. You will help us not just to scale linearly, but to improve the processes while we scale – thus help us do things faster, better, and cheaper.

In this role, we are looking for a resourceful and curious student who can work 15 to 20 hours per week on average. We will be flexible about working hours to fit your classes and exams.

Your responsibilities

We are passionate about our lean journey and have recently implemented a range of corrective actions to reduce waste and shorten the lead time of our products. Now we need you to help us continue that journey by digging one layer deeper into key processes to discover the next steps.

You will start by mapping out the process with the largest capacity gap using value stream mapping. As you dig deeper you will then identify and perform/lead/propose corrective actions to bring us to a future state with increased capacity.

Perfect student profile:

  • The ideal candidate is well into her/his production engineer education. But the right candidate with a strong passion for production and lean can come from any engineering direction
  • Fluent English for reporting and communicating with technical experts
  • Good Danish required for communicating with front line workers
  • Systematic, structured with strong attention to details and quality
  • Some knowledge of lean production systems is required, more theoretical and/or practical experience is a plus
