Pathways is a five-year Operations Leadership Development Program designed to rapidly develop talented MBA/MSc/MEng/PhD graduates with the skills they need to become the next Amazon General Managers or Directors. Pathways Operations Managers will develop leadership skills and gain an in-depth knowledge of the business through a series of progressively challenging operational assignments across Amazon's growing supply chain network. Pathways Operations Managers are expected to be mobile and scale with the growth of the business, lead and develop large teams, solve problems with creative solutions and deliver results on behalf of our customers.

Key job responsibilities
About the Role
Starting as an Area Manager, you will gain the experience and skills needed to grow as a Pathways Operations Manager. You'll then progress to the Pathways Senior Operations Manager position, ultimately scaling up to become a future Amazon General Manager or Director. Exposure to these leadership opportunities at Amazon will result in life-changing lessons and drive you to accomplish great things. You will take on progressive assignments specifically designed to leverage your leadership skills, develop your business awareness and test your analytics capability. You will engage in continuous improvement projects throughout the course of the program in order to gain efficiencies and productivity in your assigned area of responsibility.

Key responsibilities:
* Develop your managers to become the next Amazon Leaders
* Create and nurture recognition and communication among your team to establish a great work culture
* Provide motivation to your team with responsibility for planning and effective allocation of resources during the peak season
* Lead improvement projects (Kaizen) to streamline activities and drive up performance and quality
* Maintain Health and Safety standards within your remit area, while promoting an inspiring Health and Safety culture on site
* Develop standard operating procedures for the business teams
* Direct accountability for setting and meeting operational goals, strategic planning and forecasting
* Resolve complex problems that affect customers with innovative solutions
* Collaborate with all support teams including Safety, Engineering, Loss Prevention, Quality Assurance and Human Resources, to develop plans to meet business objectives

The Pathways Operations Manager role is a critical position that delivers a huge impact on both customer experience and bottom-line performance within our Fulfilment Centers, Delivery Stations or Sortation Centers. You will be given a real opportunity to shape your area with ideas that can be rolled out across the Amazon Operations network.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* You are currently enrolled in, or a 2020-2024 graduate of an MBA/MSc/MEng/PhD university course, and available for full-time work in 2023
* You are fluent at B2 Level or higher in both English and German
* You have 3 to 10 years of professional experience (excluding internships)
* You are fluent at B2 Level or higher in both English and German
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Flexibility to working in shift patterns which may include nights and weekends
* Analytical skills and sound business judgment
* Stakeholder management skills at varying levels of seniority

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Demonstrable leadership ability in a managerial position
* Minimum of 5 years of working experience (excluding internships)
* Proven ability to consult others to achieve consensus
* Strong decision-making skills based on sound reasoning
* Previous experience in setting, monitoring and improving KPIs, or similar metrics
* A successful track record of supporting both internal and external customers
* Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma or Kaizen techniques and methodologies
