Below we show you an example of how companies will present themselves at the Graduateland Virtual Career Fair. The different features of the company booths are explained, including tips on how you can use them effectively.

First off, note that in order to enter a stall your user profile has to match the requirements the company has set in terms of education and skills. Therefore, it’s a good idea to update your user profile ahead of the event (but you will also be able to edit the missing info on your profile during the fair).

Chat

You can start chatting 1 on 1 with company representatives right as you enter the stall. The number next to the button tells you how many people are currently in the queue to chat.

Tip: Make sure to do your research before you start chatting, so look at the vacant positions and company information below to prepare your questions. Also, have a look at the FAQ section to see if your question is answered there.

Check the vacancies

The job posts will appear in the form of a job description. On the chat, you can ask specific questions about the job you are interested in.

Tip: To impress the recruiter with relevant and targeted questions, read the job description carefully BEFORE you start chatting.

Look at the FAQs

There you will find the answers to the most common questions the company gets from applicants on a regular basis.

Tip: When you are queuing for a chat, spend some time on reading the FAQs first! Then you can use your time in the 1 on 1 chat with the recruiter most effectively.

Research the company

All companies will provide research material in the form of texts, videos, and pictures to give you an impression of the work environment.

Tip: All these materials will be available online a couple of days before the actual fair, so use them during your research process!

See all company representatives & topics

All company representatives are visible with a name, picture, and function. The green dot indicates that this person is currently online in the chat.

Tip: At the beginning of every chat you will be asked to choose out of 4 topics you want to talk about – based on that you will be assigned the most relevant chat partner on the company’s side. So it’s a good idea to have some questions prepared in advance!
