When it comes to getting university talent to join your company, there is often more than one department involved. The good news: all of those teams can get their use out of Graduateland LIVE. Here is a quick overview how to use and share your company account effectively for

For Adhoc Recruiters

The Adhoc Recruiter

Your main focus

You urgently want to fill a current vacancy - the less time to hire you need, the better.

When to go LIVE

Right after you have posted a job on the network. You will be able to see which candidates are online who match your recruitment requirements. You can just send them a chat message, referring to the job post, and inviting them to answer you right back.

Typical chat topics

  • The practicalities of the job, e.g. “How flexible is the starting date for the job/internship?”
  • Your hiring process, e.g. “Is a CV enough for an initial application?”

Our tip

From the moment your job gets approved, you will get access to the LIVE chat function for as long as your job post is online (depending on the package you choose). Afternoons and evening hours are your best bet for quick chats. Note typical commuting times (8-9am & 5-6pm) when active users might not be able to chat for long because they are on a train or bus.

For Talent Acquisition Specialists

The Talent Acquisition Manager

Your main focus

You want to find university candidates for open entry-level positions and pre-select promising candidates in an early screening process.

When to go LIVE

Whenever you have posted a job on the network. You will be able to see which candidates are online who match your recruitment requirements and start a chat. You can also choose to host a LIVE Session* with an online Q&A about the specific jobs you want to promote.

Typical chat topics

  • The practicalities of the application, e.g. “Can a graduate apply now, even when they only finish their studies in 3 months?”
  • Your recruitment criteria, e.g. “What kind of experience do you consider vital for this role?”

Our tip

User patterns show that job-seeking students are usually more active post lunch. So, the best time to conduct a couple of chats simultaneously are the afternoon hours between 1 pm and 4 pm (Central European Time). Also be aware of typical commuting times (8-9am & 5-6pm) when planning your sessions as candidates may still be online, but the conversation may be cut off at some point.

For Employer Branding Experts & HR Marketeers

The Employer Branding Expert

Your main focus

You want your company to be present in the minds of your target university talent when they are thinking about their career options - preferably before they think of your competition.

When to go LIVE

Be there consistently. You can filter candidates according to the engagement they already have with your company (i.e. they have applied for a job or follow your employer profile). Make yourself available to them in a LIVE Session* on a regular basis to ask and answer questions.

Typical chat topics

  • Career paths within your company, e.g. “What’s a typical entry-level position for graduates in your company and what does it entail?”
  • Options for foreign talent, e.g. “How do you work with graduates relocating from another country?”

Our tip

Being consistently present doesn’t mean you have to be online all the time. You can pick, for example, one day per week where you conduct LIVE Sessions. User patterns show that student activity on our career network increases in the beginning of the week, so a good choice for a “jour fixe” would be Mondays through Wednesdays.

For Trainee Coordinators & Graduate Hiring Managers

The Trainee Coordinator

Your main focus

You want to scan potential candidates for your specific unit or department, but you also want to conduct more in-depth screening for a hiring decision later on.

When to go LIVE

On a regular basis during your peak recruitment season. You will be able to host general LIVE Sessions*, but you can also focus each session on an individual department (e.g. Day 1 “Operations”, Day 2 “Marketing, Day 3 “Finance”). That way, you can concentrate on more specific discussions with candidates to assess their skills.

Typical chat topics

  • Applications guidance, e.g. “What information or materials do you expect applicants to provide (and why are they important)?”
  • Development opportunities within the company, e.g. “Do trainees/graduate employees get the chance to rotate and learn in different departments and countries?”

Our tip

Searches for trainee and graduate positions typically peak in autumn and then again in the beginning of each year. So when you schedule your sessions there, you’re more likely to chat with candidates who are already in search mode.

*What is a LIVE Session?

A LIVE Session is a scheduled online chat with a specific focus. You and your colleagues can agree on the timing and topic beforehand and then promote it to your target candidates in advance (similar to a webinar or a virtual career fair).
