Top Jobs Ranking Q3

The 3rd quarter of any year is definitely off-season in graduate recruitment - universities are not in session, students are backpacking around the world or doing the summer internships they applied for back in spring.

So, what does that mean for the popularity of your jobs?

Seasonality & location

During summer months, time to hire might increase a little bit in the junior recruitment market - especially in Europe, where countries hold their average 4 weeks of summer vacation at different times. In Scandinavia, business shuts down during July, but get back up to speed quite quickly after that - which explains the popularity of the jobs located in Denmark during Q3.

Things get more interesting towards the end of the quarter when the “Back to school”- mode kicks in - and in other EU countries such as the UK, Germany, France, and Spain that’s simply not the case mid-September or even October.

Different means of engagement

What can you do, when students are not in the mindset of actively looking at job descriptions?

1 alternative is to simply let them know you are available for a chat - recruitment is still pretty much a Blackbox for most graduates, so transparency helps increasing attention for your job posts. Vestas and Arla, whose jobs account for 3 out of the most popular Top 10, promoted these positions on a LIVE Session where students could drop in and ask questions about their respective graduate programme tracks (we launched this feature in August).

A 2nd idea that paid off for ourselves is to add some rich media to your job description. When recruiting for our own sales positions, we recorded a video with the team (you can also watch it below) that was easily shareable across our as well as other networks...and before you ask, no, we didn’t  dabble with the data so the job would pop up in the ranking. ;)

To sum up, there are quite a few things you can do even during the slower recruitment season - and the extra time you have can be spent on engaging with promising employees instead of just working through a stack of applications.
