The J&J Design Studio works globally across the Company’s business segments: Consumer, Pharma, Medical Device and Corporate. By utilizing the power of design, we optimize the user experience for consumers, employees, healthcare providers and patients.
Our work includes packaging, patient journeys, delivery system creation, app development, communication systems, content planning and information architecture. But that’s really just a fraction of what we do.

J&J Design is looking for talented Interns. Throughout the Internship Program students will gain hands-on, real world experience in all aspects of the design development process. Interns will also have numerous opportunities presented to them that supplement this singular educational experience such as networking, mentoring opportunities and cross-functional exposure.

We currently have opportunities in the following areas:
Brand Design (BXD)As a BXD Intern, you will gain invaluable experience across the Consumer, Healthcare and Corporate Branding teams. You will help create integrated visual systems, execute brand expressions, contribute to graphic standards across the Enterprise and deliver projects and solutions that include packaging, communications, product and spatial design. Please include personal projects and any special design skills, such as illustration, in your portfolio.
Digital Design (DXD)As a DXD intern, you will influence and design digital products and services across the J&J businesses by applying skills in UX research, interface design, design thinking and information architecture. From concept testing and prototyping to developing interactions and applying visuals, you will support a variety of J&J touch points including websites, human-machine interfaces, mobile apps and wearables.
Insights Experience & Strategy (IXS)As an IXS intern, you will work across brand strategy, design research, service design, and business innovation to generate fresh insights from novel methods and sources to inspire. You will apply skills in design strategy, ethnography, research synthesis, storytelling and iterative prototyping to solve problems and develop new ideas. Portfolio not required
Spatial Design and RetailThis intern will help develop compelling employee, patient, and customer experiences for Spatial Design and Retail. The work includes ideating, developing journey maps, and sketching out concepts to bring ideas/stories to life for J&J workplace, retail, and healthcare applications. Using the J&J global signage guidelines as a foundation, you will develop signage programs and help design retail merchandising vehicles and graphics.
Communications DesignAs a Communications Design Intern, you will gain invaluable experience across the Consumer, Healthcare and Corporate Branding teams. You will support the verbal and visual brand expressions for the Studio across multiple channels through presentation and information design, while using your strong writing skills to advance concise communications. You will have the opportunity to engage with teams cross-functionally to discover and then deliver your projects.
In addition to your design portfolio, writing samples are also required for this role. A portfolio link must be included in the resume or we cannot consider the candidate and will be disqualified.
Ideal candidates should possess:
- A portfolio link included in their resume
- Permanent work authorization in the U.S. and will not require work visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, reflective of all college coursework.
- A current status as an actively enrolled student and pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree.
- The ability to work a full-time 40-hour week, from June 14th – August 20th and in a remote environment. Work hours will be based on Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)
