Optimal conservation of Scenedesmus sp microalgae at Københavns Universitet

Utilizing the extreme growth rates of green microalgae is attractive for protein feed production. In order to enable a future industrialized production, we have to develop novel storage solutions. Ensiling is a well-known method for conservation, however, it have never been tested for microalgae. We will investigate how ensiling is affecting the microalgae biomass on parameters like digestability, cell wall integrity, and drying efficientcy. 

Collaboration with partners such as Danish Technological Institute, Tailorzyme, Hamlet Protein or SANI Membranes can be explored.
