Job Overview
The Automatic Transmission Diagnostic Calibration Engineer will join the team responsible for calibration to meet FCA automatic transmission diagnostic and functional safety goals. The Engineer will be responsible for developing, validating and releasing calibrations to meet regulatory requirements, meet FCA internal requirements/specifications and to guide service actions for assigned applications. The Engineer will regularly report program status to management and have ability to escalate concerns within the organization if needed. The Diagnostic Calibration Engineer is also responsible for working to continually assess and improve FCA vehicles by working across the extended FCA team to identify and implement opportunities for improvement such as reducing likelihood of false diagnostic failure, improving service guidance based on system understanding, improving hardware or software design where appropriate and other similar work. The Engineer will be working in calibration vehicles and may occasionally travel to validate calibrations in environmental conditions (hot, cold and altitude.) This role is expected to be an active participant to the diagnostic calibration technical group responsible for defining process, methodology and tools across all FCA applications and may receive assignments to assist in these initiatives balanced with regular program work.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related Engineering degree from an accredited university
  • Experience in powertrain calibration performing calibration development and validation testing
  • Passion for automotive engineering
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or G Suite
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully accomplish tasks under minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Strong skills in mathematics and physics to characterize system operation fundamentals when assessing diagnostic robustness
  • Structured problem solving experience (Red-X, DFSS, etc.)
