Qualifications
The Base Engine Structural Component Design and Release Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of engine structural assembly components using quality methodologies such as CAE, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and Design Validation Plan and Reports (DVP&R). The Engineer will lead analysis, design, prototyping, and testing (engine and vehicle) and ensure documentation of those activities. The candidate will work with global FCA engineering, purchasing, manufacturing and supply base groups to achieve program objectives, and must ensure robust, proactive and quick resolution of issues. The Engineer must have strong project management and strategic thinking skills, and be able to manage multiple projects in parallel. Some travel to domestic and international supplier facilities and engine plants is required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum of one engineering internship during undergraduate studies or relevant design and/or release experience
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Knowledge of DVPR, DFMEA and PFMEA
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to resolve conflicting requirements across multiple organizations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel
  • Ability to present concepts/strategies/project status to large groups
  • Possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and/or Master of Business Administration from an accredited program
  • Knowledge of basic machining operation processes
  • Knowledge of aluminum die-casting and sand casting manufacturing processes
  • Excellent quality, manufacturing and product assurance planning skills
  • DFSS certification
  • Familiar with FEA/CAE analysis tools
  • Experience with NX/Teamcenter
  • Previous work experience with oil pan and/or front cover design
