About the department
The Data Management & Analytics team is an international, high performing team with a variety of technical and analytical backgrounds. The responsibilities of Data Management & Analytics ranges from data acquisition/ingestion, data analysis, and data engineering, to evangelizing the opportunity to apply data and advanced analytics, initiating analytical initiatives and supporting data science users of our platform. We have built and are operating the data lake and data science platform on Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support our mission; and we are continuously developing and extend the platform. The overarching goal is to use data to gain new understandings and insights, and to ensure we deliver value to our stakeholders and the business.
We are currently 17 internal and external employees in 3 different locations in India, USA and Denmark, and growing, with various titles such as IT Architect, System Analyst and Data Engineer. We are planning to expand our offerings to the global organization, particularly in the data engineering and data science space, why we need an extra resource to succeed with our journey and ambitious vision.
The department is undergoing an amazing transition journey embedding data and analytics as a key component in Novo Nordisk and is anchored within the Digital Incubator & Innovation are in Global IT.
The position
As AWS Developer, you will join a team of developers and data engineers with whom you will build data & analytics solutions based on the business needs. You will team up with your colleagues and work focused on solutions that can be deployed in to production. You will collaborate closely with DM&A Operations in India to whom you will hand over your work for operations and maintenance post go-live. Together with the team you will develop and maintain our catalogue of solutions embedded on Amazon Web Services (AWS) like EMR, S3, Redshift, Lambda and other AWS offerings. Furthermore, you will develop and provide technical guidance regarding data science parts build around EMR, SageMaker, R, Python and other data science tools.
To succeed in this job, you are expected to understand the technologies involved in the components that makes up the data lake, data science, ML and AI solutions, and you know how these are integrated. If your coding skills are sharp enough but you have not played with AWS before we will bring you up to speed facilitating a career path leading to relevant AWS certifications.
Qualifications
First of all, you are curious by nature, a fast-learner and willing to go the extra mile to succeed on the journey, the team is embarking on.
You have a master’s degree in relevant field and hands-on experience working with coding, contemporary cloud technologies, including data lake and advanced analytics as well as the integration of these. You are very pleasant to be around and will fit well in to the team where it is important to have fun and where we work in a relaxed informal atmosphere.
Perhaps you have a background within software development or software engineering. You have a ‘can do’ mind-set required to try out new setups and solutions. You are known for your ability to understand complex technical matters, form an educated opinion and communicate these in a simple way to your stakeholders, so they can reach informed decisions based on your input.
We need a colleague, who have knowledge of cloud-based data lake and big data technologies preferable on Amazon Web Services. And you have strong programming skills preferably in Python and have good knowledge of SQL.
To succeed in this role, it is crucial that you thrive with working in teams where we work together to achieve common goals and where we are relying on each other.
Finally, you must possess a strong work ethic and have the willingness to take responsibility for your own learning and value that you play an important role in making lives easier for people living with diabetes and other chronic diseases. Since you will be working in a global environment, some travel activity may occur.
Fluency in English (Oral and written) is a prerequisite. The position is based in Bagsværd, Denmark.
