Qualifications
The Battery Management System Diagnostic Engineer will work with battery management system (BMS) hardware and software for use in electrified powertrains.
Responsibilities include:

  • Defining BMS requirements for diagnostics software and control algorithms
  • Developing and executing test plans
  • Participating in supplier and OEM DFMEAs
  • Establishing and tracking diagnostic software release timing
  • Ensuring compliance to FCA diagnostic and flash standards
  • Developing and tracking supplier and OEM validation and verification plans for diagnostics
  • Developing with the supplier the diagnostic trouble code matrix, data identifiers, and diagnostic routines
  • Ensuring compliance with all FCA core teams requirements for diagnostics and OBDII, participating in service manual development
  • Developing flash for the battery management controllers
  • Writing and testing the end-of-line process standard for the hybrid battery
  • Troubleshooting issues and testing systems on benches and in vehicles

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Systems or Chemical Engineering, Physics or related discipline at an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in automotive or related industry
  • Automotive diagnostic experience
  • Prior experience with software development and diagnostics tools (e.g., HIL testers, CANalyzer, INCA, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Matlab/Simulink

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters or advanced degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Systems or Chemical Engineering, Physics or related discipline
  • 2 years of experience with electrified powertrains and battery management
  • 2 years of experience with development and testing of battery systems in hybrid and/or electric vehicles
  • Prior experience with electrical/electronic components used in BMS hardware
  • Prior experience with BMS software development and control algorithms
  • Lithium ion battery experience
