JOB SUMMARY
Designs, validates, and brings new products to market. Specifies precise new product functional requirements; designs, tests and integrates components to produce final designs; and evaluates the design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety. Designs, develops, executes and evaluates fitness-for-use testing, product specifications and process validation plans; creates and reviews material part specifications and bills of materials. Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability. Utilizes CAD (Computer Aided Design) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and develop new products utilizing advanced modeling tools and engineering principles.
Provide engineering support for legacy products, legacy designs and cost reduction efforts.
Demonstrate strong collaboration skills and the ability to think creatively to create solutions, drive execution and focus on results.
Prepare and control Engineering drawings and documentation.
Participate in design reviews and document open issues.
Interface with Product Managers, Applications Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Purchasing, and other functions during all phases of product development.
Apply engineering analysis to make data-driven design decisions.
Analyze new components, materials and technologies to evaluate functionality for all new product development.
Prepare comprehensive project plans with technical objectives and detailed cost estimates.
Comply with Design Control and Stage Gate processes while designing prototypes and products.
Track progress of assigned projects to report to major stakeholders.
Document records for all project proposal and associated activities.
Perform other product development related duties as requested, directed or assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION
Minimum of B.E degree in Mechanical Engineering and 7 years of product design experience.
Experienced in any Rotary equipment design running at High speed, Like Pumps, Compressors, Turbines, Motors, Experience with Shear Mixers preferred.
Experience in Developing Drive train arrangements and power transmission, related calculations, bearing and gear selection and analysis for High speed application. Knowledge of related standards – AGMA, ISO, DIN, BS
Experience in Designing equipment for Hygiene industry, conversant with 3A, EHEDG and ASME BPE standards.
Experience in 3D modelling, Drawing and Engineering Documentation using computer aided design, experience with Inventor preferred.
Expert understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and relations to individual parts and overall assemblies (ANSI Y14.5).
Well versed in wide variety of production processes including (but not limited to) machining, casting, welding, Polishing.
Strong interpersonal skills, proven project handling skills and a positive energy.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Project Planning and Execution: Maintain focus on priorities. Maintain flexibility as priorities change. Be aware of short timelines from start to finish of project.
Utilize software programs such as (but not limited to) MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, MS PowerPoint.
